This registration is for Hanover Soccer Club 2026 GRASSROOTS PROGRAMMING. This
program is new for 2026 and follows the programing model set put by Canada Soccer. This
program is split into 4 blocks of 8 weeks each.

• Block 1 will run May and June 2026.
• Block 2 will run August and September 2026.

GRASS ROOTS PROGRAMING for players born in the following years:

• 2018 (age 8)
• 2017 (age 9)
• 2016 (age 10)

BLOCK 1 (May & June)

This block is split into two options:

• GRASSROOTS L1 – this will give you ONE structured practice and ONE game event per week.
• GRASSROOTS L2 – this will give you TWO structured practices and ONE game event per week.

TENTATIVE DAYS OF PLAY

• Mon (& Wed for L2) – Structured Practice
• Fri – Intersquad or Jamboree Matches on alternating weeks
  • Intersquad matches played at home field, Steinbach Soccer Park
  • Jamboree Matches could be either at Steinbach Soccer Park, Lorette Soccer Field or Oakbank Soccer Field

• As we are still in the planning stages of Grassroots Programing, final schedule may see some adjustments based on registration numbers.
• Program includes a Jersey that can be KEPT at the end of the block and be used for future blocks.

*NOTE: It is optional to register for both blocks 1 & 2 at this time. There will be additional opportunity to register for Block 2 (August/September) in July, after Block 1 has completed.

Block 2 is expected to follow the same game structure and weekdays of Block 1.

Additional Details

Grassroots soccer is designed to create the best possible learning and development environment for young players in Canada. The goal is to cultivate an atmosphere conducive to developing a passion for the ball, being skillful, with the ability to adapt and find solutions to soccer problems. In Grassroots, players will interact with the ball as often as possible by fostering an environment that maximizes one-on-one encounters, quick decision making, and final acts (goals, shots, crosses).

Grassroots programming is appropriately structured for the age and stage of the participating players, allowing for the opportunity for multi-sport participation, active life sampling and life balance.

Training sessions will be planned and overseen by a qualified coach. Training will be station-based. Station-based training is when groups of players rotate through different stations throughout the training session. Each station coach will be well-versed in the objectives of the specific drill they are coaching and will be working in close conjunction with the overseer coach. The stations will be invigorating with continuous movements and opportunities for players to play the game they love. The movement between stations will be efficient, which will promote engagement and interest in the overall training session.

Players will be interchanged regularly in groups/teams in an ‘open roster’ approach. The training-to-match ratios will favour fun and creative training in order to provide players with the maximum touches on the ball. Matches will be in a ‘festival style’ format. There will be some traveling, although Grassroots principles emphasize minimal traveling before U12.
