Code of Conduct

  1. Players will participate because they want to, not because my parents or coaches want me to.
  2. Players will play by the rules and the spirit of the game.
  3. Players will do their best to be true team players.
  4. Players must  remember that coaches share their  passion for the sport. They are there to teach them and help them to improve their skills and abilities. Players will accept their decisions.
  5. Players will show respect to their coaches, opponents and officials.
  6. Players will refrain from any verbal or physical action that may diminish the integrity of the program or an individual.
  7. Players will acknowledge all good plays and performances, those of their team and their opponents.
  8. Players will keep in mind that winning isn’t everything.
  9. Players must maintain and enhance the dignity and self-esteem of the team and other individuals by demonstrating respect to individuals regardless of body type, physical characteristics, athletic ability, gender, ancestry, ethnic or racial origin, sexual orientation, age, marital status, religious belief, political belief, disability or economic status.
  10. Players must adhere to all the guidelines laid down within the constitution and rules of the Manitoba Soccer Association

FAIR PLAY
FOR THE GOOD OF THE GAME

  1. Parents will not force their child to participate in sports.
  2. Parents will remember that their child plays soccer for their enjoyment, not the parent’s.
  3. Parents will encourage their children to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
  4. Parents will teach their children that doing one’s best is as important as winning.
  5. Parents will never ridicule or yell at their children for making a mistake or losing a competition.
  6. Parents will remember that children learn best by example, applauding good plays and performances by both their child’s team and their opponent.
  7. Parents will never question the officials’ judgement or honesty in public.
  8. Parents will support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from children’s sporting activities.
  9. Parents will respect and show appreciation for the volunteer coaches who give their time to provide soccer for their children.
  10. Parents will conduct themselves in an appropriate way, leaving all personal conflicts or preferences aside.
  11. Parents will refrain from any verbal or physical action that may diminish the integrity of the program or an individual.
  12. Parents will respect the opposition players, coaches and parents.
  13. Parents will not coach their child from the sidelines, supporting them positively. They can review the games with their child by talking about it or special situations  after the game. (see 4&5)
  14. Parents will maintain and enhance the dignity and self-esteem of the team and other individuals by: Demonstrating respect to individuals regardless of body type, physical characteristics, athletic ability, gender, ancestry, ethnic or racial origin, nationality, national origin, sexual orientation, age, marital status, religion, religious belief, church affiliation, political belief, disability or economic status.
  15. Parents must adhere to all guidelines laid down within the constitution and rules of the Manitoba Soccer Association.

FAIR PLAY
FOR THE GOOD OF THE GAME

Based on Canadian Soccer Association’s Fair Play Codes

  1. Coaches must be reasonable when scheduling games and practices remembering that young players have other interest and obligations.
  2. Coaches will  teach  players to play fairly and to respect the rules, officials and their opponents.
  3. Coaches will ensure that all players get equal instruction and support.
  4. Coaches must schedule the players on behalf of the team, not on the players or personal behalf, ensuring every player gets equal opportunity.
  5. Coaches will not ridicule or yell at players for making mistakes for performing poorly, remembering that children play to have fun and must be encouraged to have confidence in themselves.
  6. Coaches must make sure that equipment and facilities are safe and match the players’ ages and abilities.
  7. Coaches must consistently display high standards of behavior and experience and be a role model for players, parents and spectators.
  8. Coaches must obtain proper training and continue to upgrade my coaching skills.
  9. Coaches must maintain and enhance the dignity and self-esteem of the team and other Individuals by: i. Demonstrating respect to individuals regardless of body type, physical characteristics, athletic ability, gender, ancestry, colour, ethnic or racial origin, nationality, national origin, sexual orientation, age, marital status, religion, religious belief, political belief, disability or economic status.
  10. Coaches must refrain from any verbal or physical action that may diminish the integrity of the Hanover soccer club or an individual.
  11. Coaches will conduct themselves in an appropriate way and to behave suitably as a coach, Leaving all personal conflicts or preferences aside.
  12. Coaches must adhere to all guidelines laid down within the constitution and the rules of the Manitoba Soccer Association.
